JOIN FRIENDS OF THE GARDEN

Gardens are fragile and require constant attention and renewal. Although New York City retains ownership of the land through the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Garden's upkeep is the responsibility of a community group of volunteers. Ongoing fund-raising events and solicitations enable the Garden to be maintained in splendid seasonal bloom. We hope you appreciate our efforts, and we invite you to join us in keeping the Garden alive. Your generosity will make a very visible difference and is deeply appreciated.

You can give at many levels, $35, $50, $100, $250, or join our special Godmothers and Godfathers program for $500 or more.

GODMOTHERS AND GODFATHERS

With a gift of $500. or more to Jefferson Market Garden, you can become a JMG Godmother or Godfather. Godparents’ donations support our summer aide, whose presence allows the Garden to open for regular hours every afternoon weather permitting, except Monday.

Along with a lot of gratitude for your generous gift, you will receive courtesy of Yale University Press a cloth-bound copy of FLOWERS AND HERBS OF EARLY AMERICA, with a custom bookplate. “This magnificent book” (Horticulture Magazine) is sumptuously illustrated with stunning color photographs and elegant period engravings, watercolors and woodcuts. Minimum donation for Godmothers and Godfathers is $500.

Other Ways to Support the Garden

Jefferson Market Garden belongs to everyone. Whether you visit once a week or once a year, the garden will be richer for your participation. There are lots of ways you can help the garden flourish:

» Tell your friends about the garden and encourage them to come by.

» Garden Volunteers work on Mondays between 9 am and 2 pm. Go to the gate on west 10th St. Gloves and tools are provided. May to September.

» Garden Gate Keepers meet and greet visitors. Stop by the Garden and fill out a pink volunteer card. Our Director of Volunteers will call you. May to September.

» If you own a business in the neighborhood, consider sponsoring one of our events.

» Make a tax-deductible donation and become a Friend of Jefferson Market Garden.

» Help out with our educational programs.

» Most of all, remember to stop by often and refresh your spirits.
